ABOUT ABOUT

Intensive Workshop Week One, Foundational Elements of Figure Painting, involves a thorough exploration of the fundamental skills taught in the four-year curriculum of Studio Incamminati. It begins with open-grisaille gesture studies to correctly execute the major shapes of the human figure, followed by the closed-grisaille figure studies to analyze value transitions.

Color study of the figure will then be introduced, starting with simple executions of colored boxes used in comparing colors on the figure. The last part of this workshop involves the assimilation of all the exercises rendered during the week to create a solid start to building a painting.

Includes an evening painting demonstration by Studio Incamminati instructors.

Robin, a Studio Incamminati graduate, had her work juried into Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Clubs 115th Annual Juried Exhibition at The National Arts Club in 2011. She received an Honor Award in the Portrait Society of America’s 2008 Portrait Competition and her work is featured in the book “Portrait Painting Atelier: Old Master Techniques and Contemporary Applications.”
