This five-day workshop provides the foundational information necessary to painting the figure in color.
The first two days will break down the painting process into exercises aimed at identifying and mastering the essential information. The areas of focus will be capturing the energy and gesture of the pose, identifying essential structural landmarks, correctly relating values in the composition, identifying relative value planes within the figure and identifying color relationships through color study exercises. These exercises are designed to enable the student to identify the information necessary to each stage of a painting.
On Wednesday a long pose will be set and the students will have the opportunity to develop a multi- day figure painting.
The goal of the workshop is to provide the student with a working approach to full color figure painting. The approach taught is applicable to any subject matter.
Studio Incamminati graduate and Teaching Fellow Lea Colie Wight received a 2011 Certificate of Excellence and 2010 and 2009 Honor Awards from the Portrait Society of America. Lea was selected to teach at American Artist magazine's Weekend with the Masters Intensive: New York City and she was on the faculty of the 2012 and 2011 Portrait Society ofAmericafs annual conferences.
