This workshop focuses on painting from life in the traditional Alla Prima manner of the Old Masters. Students concentrate on seeing the forms of the model in terms of shape, proportions, values and color and mix colors to achieve a natural realism.
The instructor gives a half-hour demonstration from life each day and critiques each student's painting each day. During extended model breaks, the instructor discusses the art of Old Masters and certain contemporary realists as it applies to the painting done in the workshop.
On Day One artists paint head studies.
On Day Two artists paint the figure.
