The course goal is to offer the chance to push a drawing to the highest possible level in the time allotted.

Students begin with one-hour, block-in drawings for the first day, learning to see the figure as a whole and to clearly develop proper proportions and gesture in a linear way. Then, students begin the long pose. This drawing is for eight nights and is developed to completion, starting with a loose gesture drawing and progressing to a highly finished, fully modeled figure drawing. Proper proportion, beautiful gesture, correct anatomy and an understanding of simple and complex forms are stressed throughout.

Guest Instructor Darren Kingsley won the 2000 American Society of Classical Realism scholarship. His works hang in the Union League of Philadelphia as well as other numerous private collections.
